Marie thinks she’s an excellent judge of character. And Bjorn thinks the same of himself. Only time will tell who is the better judge.

Arvalon from Planet Chaser makes a return appearance on today’s page.

Sorry for the late update! I forgot that this past weekend was a holiday weekend and lost track of what day it was.

Also, this page marks the last page in the current scene. Weekly updates will resume when the pages for the next scene are completed.

Also, also, I’m working on a surprise for all of you that I’ll hopefully get to unveil sometime this summer.

Marie only learned of name guarding after Adrik told her.

Also, at the moment this page is inaccurate in that I didn’t explain things well the first time around. Things were said in the first chapter without it being entirely clear who said them. That’s a mistake I made that will be fixed in the near future. As for characters slipping up and making mistakes with respect to name guarding, it’s already happened a few times already.

Almost forgot. Today’s page has another long ago promised cameo. The guy that Marie is talking to off to the side is Arvalon from Planet Chaser.

Here’s a check in on the characters who haven’t explicitly removed themselves from the chapter. Some are having a better time than others.

Also more CAMEOS! I’m sure some people have forgotten that I promised these…a whole 2 years ago. Better late then never, right? (I’m soooooooo sorry that it is taking me so long to get these done!)

In the middle panel is Teren from The Adventures of Aquila and Teren.

In the last panel is Kanny Bougainville from Cryptida and Cynthia from Once Stung.

Also, a new page means updates once a week for the next month. The following four pages are almost done and done to the point that I’m confident they’ll all be done this week. I’m also working on a HUGE surprise for you guys that I’m hoping I’ll be able to reveal in June.

Also, also, I’ve got a lot of news to share since the last update.

First I’d like to show off these lovely valentines related pieces I received from Spidar of Rowin Redd: Born of Fire as part of the 2017 Crossover Exchange IN LOVE 3!. They’re great! I love them! XD (Please click on it to see the full sized version.)

Other news: I got into grad school! I’ll be moving to beautiful sunny SoCal this summer. I would warn that updates will be sporadic, but they’re already sporadic. In five years time I’ll be a Dr. but not that kind of Dr. I’m pretty excited! Which is an understatement. Getting into grad school is something I never thought I’d accomplish! I’ve hit a lot of set backs on my journey and I’m eternally grateful to all the people I’ve met along the way who helped me. Everyone who reads Eternity Complex is part of that list, btw. Knowing that people, even just a few people, not only read but enjoy reading EC helped pull me out of a dark place and helped build my confidence up. I would not have been able to succeed at round 2 of undergraduate without that confidence boost. And you know what else if pretty awesome, everything I’ve done to get a STEM degree has directly benefited from my art degree. Which brings me to…

Check out this animation I made for science!

And be sure to check out the video my colleague, Ning, filmed and created that the animation was made for.

Also be sure check out Ning’s other videos. He’s doing a lot of really great work (most of which isn’t online, yet) and, I believe, is entirely self taught. He’s about to start working towards a PhD, creating quality geoscience videos to educate people.

One last thing, I’m thinking of setting up Eternity Complex on tapastic/tapas. Don’t worry, there will still be updates here but I primarily read webcomics on mobile and their interface is super mobile friendly. If you have experience with tapas please let me know what you think and if you have any advice for setting up the comic over there.

See you next week! 🙂

I find their lack of faith disturbing… Not really, I just really wanted to say that.

This page is the final page of the scene. The next page is a transition page and is a bit too detailed as a result (also it has a long-ago-promised cameo on it). I’m not sure when the next page will go up but it will be at a point when I have it and the rest of the pages for that scene done (all 5 of them). I like the idea of not leaving things hanging mid scene and having guaranteed updates for at least a few weeks before taking another break. If you have an opinion about the timing of future updates I’d be glad to hear it! 🙂

There’s currently 3 scenes left in the chapter and each one is 5 pages long. Before the next chapter starts I’m going to have to think long and heard about art decisions. My current working art style is way too detailed for the amount of time I have available each week.

What will it take, Fae?

Hello! It’s been months! Hope everyone is doing well!

I didn’t want to post again until all the pages in the current scene were done and… well… they’re still not done… BUT… all but one is and I think that I’ll be able to complete it before it would be time to post that page. And maybe even build up a buffer while I’m at it.

Thanks for sticking with the on-again, off-again updates! There’s no guarantee that updates will ever go back to their previous regularity but I’m going to try to get as much done before grad school as possible.

As for the what’s currently going on: I completed a NSF fellowship application (will find out if I get money to pay for grad school in the spring), graduated summa cum laude (I’m a super nerd XP), and am currently applying to grad schools (2 applications down and 1 in the works with another professor or two to contact relatively soonish). Everyday I’m getting closer and closer to being a professional scientist. Yay!

For my parting words, I leave you with this brilliant song.

Long time no see! I’m kind of sort of back for a while. Things still won’t be consistent around here but I should be updating a lot more frequently over the summer. I’ll post further details down bellow but first the fun stuff.

Eternity Complex has gotten past the 450 page mark and so it’s time for another progress chart to get posted.

I love working on this chart because it is always a big confidence boost to see how far I’ve come since 2011. Roughly every 50 pages I add a new column and characters appear in their order of comic appearance except for Enya. She should be earlier in the chart but isn’t due to creating the chart before I redid the prologue and laziness.

If you want to see a larger version of the chart, please click on image.

As for what’s been going on for the past few months. It’s more a question of what hasn’t happened. The TLDR version is a roller coaster of good and bad that’s kept me constantly moving since March. I’m still constantly moving but at least I have enough time to art again. My goal for the summer is work on new pages and finally finish the updated first chapter. It’s been a few years since I re-wrote and sketched the first chapter but I haven’t had the time to finish what I started. I don’t like what is up currently and if I could change the pages out, I’d be much happier. That being said, priority is and always will be new pages.

The long version of what has been going on is two big research projects that had a paper and presentation component, new job (now I have two, though one is only during the school year), field camp in Ecuador, email broke, Russian visa paper work, wisdom tooth coming in, product updates for other job, visiting family, Aunt died, putting together a proposal to try and get a NSF grant for grad school, figuring out who I want to study under in grad school, studying for the GRE, finding a treasurer to take my place, putting together a poster presentation and abstract for conference based on work I did last semester, apply for graduation, finding an internship, need to take my motorcycle in for maintenance, and that’s only what I can remember. It’s a garbled list of things I’ve done, am doing, and need to do.

The good news in all of that is that I hit a pretty bad low point in there where I messed up applying to an internship. I can’t really turn a blind eye to how bad my depression and anxiety problems are affecting my ability to function in the real world anymore. By the end of this week I’ll hopefully have an appointment made with a sliding scale place. They’re the only sliding scale payment option place I know of in the area, so I’m hoping that they agree to see me. My insurance won’t cover anything related to mental health and I don’t trust my university. It’s good news because I’ve never taken care of my mental health and any step I can take that will help me like who I am is a good step.

In order to leave off on a happy note, here’s a list of stuff I’m looking forward to:
-Traveling to Russia in order to study volcanoes in August
-My final semester before graduating
-Getting into grad school
-Moving far away from Texas (it’s a love/hate relationship)
-Moving somewhere with a reasonable climate
-Painting Cotopaxi for a friend
-Hopefully more painting because I miss oils
-Riding my motorcycle
-Department party ’cause there will be horses
